Swaziland will host the upcoming ICC Africa U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Division 2 event which will be played from 26-30 July 2010 and will be held in Big Bend, a small village in the Lowveld of Swaziland.
Venues for the event were confirmed after ICC-Africa and Swaziland Cricket Association (SCA) were able to identify three cricket fields which are in close proximity in order to host the event. Two existing fields at Big Bend needed minimum alteration in order to meet the criteria for the tournament, while a third pitch had to be constructed from scratch.
The SCA was also instrumental in erecting brand new practice facilities at the Ubombo Country Club, which is the main venue for the above tournament. Two CAP (Cricket Administration Programmes) were held in the area recently to promote cricket in the region.
The third pitch will be constructed in the premises of U-Tech school. The outfields of all the fields are good quality and maintained on a daily basis.
The three fields which will be used for the event are - Ubombo Country Club (turf wicket), Sisekelo High School (synthetic surface) and U-Tech (synthetic surface).
