In the opening match of the ICC Africa U19 CWCQ, Uganda comprehensively thrashed newly promoted Nigeria.
Nigeria was bowled out for a disappointing 67 all out with Faruk Ochimi recording figures of 4 for 25 in six overs.
Uganda didn't have it all its own way, but it managed to pass their target in the 16th over. It eventually beat Nigeria by three wickets.
Hosts Namibia played neighbours Botswana at the United Cricket Ground. Namibia posted a very respectable 263 in its 50 overs.
Top scorer was Christopher Coombie (48) who was ably supported by Bredell Wessels (46).
Botswana begin its pursuit in superb fashion and was 60 for 0 after 10 overs. A middle order collapse saw them faltering at 167 for 8, before a rearguard action saw them through to a competitive 235 for 9 after their 50 overs.
The match between Kenya and Zambia saw Irfan Karim become the first centurion of the tournament with 106 off 131 balls as Kenya posted 223 in its 50 overs.
The pick of Zambia bowlers was Himal Patal with 5 for 29 in his 10 overs. The Zambian batting never got off to a consistent start with a regular loss of wickets and was eventually bowled out for 155.
At the WAP grounds Tanzania was restricted to 133 all out in the 43rd over. Sierra Leone set about its run chase aggressively and won comfortably by four wickets.
