Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) is buoyed by the impressive show of the national team in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in Bologna, Italy last month.
Tanzania missed out on promotion to ICC World Cricket League Division 3, but TCA is taking heart from their performance in Bologna. In the ICC World Cricket League Division 4, Tanzania beat Nepal, Cayman Islands and Argentina.
Since 2008, the TCA has been sending players to feature in various leagues in England. This year, four cricketers went to England and played on varied contracts. The TCA now plans to send more players to England to play professional club cricket and learn more about their trade.
TCA Chief Executive Officer Zully Rehemtullah was quoted as saying by Daily News in Dar Es Salam that the young side has gained a lot of experience in the tough English set-up.
With the average age of the side being just 26, TCA is hoping for better returns in the future post these stints. National captain Hamisi Abdallah (21), his teammates Athumani Kakonzi (20), Khalil Rehemtullah (23) and Abhik Patwa have already spent time playing in England.
