Centuries from Sean Williams and Keith Dabengwa gave a Zimbabwe XI a vital first innings lead against Ireland on day three of the ICC Intercontinental Cup.

This means that Ireland, which had won the past three editions of the tournament, can no longer make the final of this year's event.

Williams made an outstanding 178, while Dabengwa reached 140, as the Zimbabwe XI closed on 506-6 at the end of play with the game heading for a draw.

Ireland used eight bowlers in total with Trent Johnston the leading wicket-taker for his side capturing 3-80.

The final day's play of the match will take place on Thursday.
