Veteran Steve Tikolo starred with an all-round show as Kenya XI began preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup with an impressive six-wicket win over a touring United Arab Emirates XI at the Mombasa Sports Club Ground on Sunday.
United Arab Emirates XI are scheduled to play four warm-up one-dayers to help Kenya XI build for ICC Cricket World Cup.
The United Arab Emirates XI opted to bat first and got off to a confident start. But the introduction of Tikolo's off-spin triggered a collapse from 128 for three to 182 all out in 46.3 overs. Tikolo ended with figures of 4-18. Swapnil Patil was the best batsman for United Arab Emirates XI scoring a 82-ball 49 with two boundaries.
In its reply, the hosts rode on a 83 run third wicket stand between David Obuya (72: 98b, 8x4) and Tikolo's unbeaten 69 off 77 balls with seven boundaries and a six.
Kenya XI romped home to victory in 39.5 overs with six wickets in hand.
