Parthiv Patel starred in Gujarat XI's win
Kenya XI lost its third straight match on its ongoing India tour to Indian Ranji side Gujarat XI by six wickets at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Kenya XI are on a build-up tour to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Kenya XI posted 293 for six in its allotted 50 overs, Gujarat XI chased down the target in 46.5 overs.
Asked to bat first Kenya XI innings was built on opener Seren Waters' knock of 102 (130b: 8x4) and Collins Obuya's 93 ( 113b: 5x4, 1x6). Waters and Obuya added 178 runs for the second wicket.
In its reply, Gujarat XI was well served by opener Priyank Panchal who made 91 off 109 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. Panchal had to retire hurt at the team score of 213-2 after 37 overs and his individual score was 87. Prathmesh Parmar replaced him. Panchal resumed batting after Parmar got out with the Gujarat XI score on 257-3. Rinkin Chauhan (72: 76b; 9x4, 1x6) was the other major contributor.
Skipper Parthiv Patel provided the finishing touches with his knock of 88 off 64 balls with six boundaries and five sixes. Kenya XI now travel to Baroda on 14 January. Kenya XI are scheduled to play a Baroda XI on 16 and 18 January.
