Subhash Modi who recently retired from the ICC Associate and Affiliate panel umpire has been appointed by the ICC Africa as a an umpiring consultant for a two-year period till December 2012. Modi will also act as match referee at all the regional tournaments in Africa.
Modi had joined the ICC Associate and Affiliate panel in 2006 and was also involved with the Kenya Umpire Association.
Cassim Suliman, Regional Development Manager, ICC Africa said: " We are hoping that Mr Modi will be able to play a dual role in the Africa region, both as a match referee and as an umpiring consultant. We hope that he would be able to facilitate umpire development in Africa through regular training courses."
Modi will take up his first official duty as the regional match referee at the ICC Africa T20 Division 3 tournament which will be held in Accra, Ghana from the 24-28 February.
