The Malian Cricket Federation (FeMaCrik) held the sixth Introductory Cricket Coaching course in Bamako in September.
Theory was covered at the Lycée Kodonso and practice at the Municipal Sports Stadium in Djélibougou. The course was run by FeMaCrik's National Technical Director and covered introductions to fielding, bowling, batting and the roles of coaches.
Twenty (20) people took part, eight for the FeMaCrik Level I (Initiation) and twelve (12) for the FeMaCrik Level II (Introductory) course. There were two women and the very first participants representing Kidal and Mopti. Participants also represented Timbuktu, Kayes, Koulikoro and Sikasso (regional towns outside Bamako) and Bamako.
After an intensive course over the five-days, all eight level one candidates and 11 out of 12 level two candidates successfully passed the written and practical tests to earn their FeMaCrik Coaching Certificates.
During the closing ceremony on 18 September 2009, each participant received a participation certificate and the appropriate FeMaCrik Cricket Coach Certificate (level I or II) presented by the FeMaCrik National Technical Director. Mr Tidiane Fofana, FeMaCrik Vice-President, also presented prizes to the best candidates in each category and sets of locally made cricket equipment to representatives from the regions.
