Swaziland batted first and made 92-7 off 20 overs, with Quee taking 3-13 in four overs. In reply, Kamara made an excellent half century as Sierra Leone coasted to an eight-wicket victory.

Mozambique made 108-7 against Botswana, before excellent innings from Rashid (45) and Moses (40) guided Botswana to a five-wicket victory.

Tanzania got its campaign off to a confident start, scoring an impressive 154-3 in its 20 overs, with Mwita hitting his half century off just 32 balls.

The gulf in class was there to see in reply as Rwanda struggled to 87-5 off 20 overs to hand Tanzania a 67-run win.
