Tanzania coach confident of winning African Cricket Championship

Tue, Oct 27, 2009 2:38 PM

Head coach of the Tanzania U19 national women's team, Hamis Abdallah, is confident of winning the African Cricket Championship title, and is already working on improving the team's batting skills.

Tanzania is set to host the inaugural championship for women that will be held on November 20 in Dar-es-Salaam and will see five teams taking part - Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Rwanda and the hosts, Tanzania.

Hamis, who is also the senior national team's skipper, showered praises on the players saying they had all it takes to outdo their opponents and win the title. The team played a friendly match against their men's counterparts, but displayed weakness in batting.

Speaking to The Citizen, he said: "We've no problem in bowling and fielding, but the team really struggled in batting, so I'm still working on it and hopefully they will be sharp in all departments."
