Varaiya gives Kenya upper hand on the opening day

An eventful opening day saw 13 wickets fall between Kenya and the UAE in the ICC Intercontinental Cup.

Hiren Varaiya claimed four wickets as Kenya dismissed the UAE for 213 all out, as it collapsed from 178-4.

UAE skipper Khurram Khan struck 85 from 143 balls, receiving good support from Saqib Ali, who hit 45, before a dramatic collapse.

In reply, Kenya was 91-3 at the close of play, with captain Collins Obuya falling to the last ball of the day to leave the match evenly poised.
