History was made in Lagos last weekend when the first-ever official domestic game in Nigeria to be played with coloured clothing and a white ball took place.
The game was played between defending league champions, Ibeju-Lekki Cricket Club, and newcomers FGCW Cricket Club.
By aligning the playing conditions to that of international cricket, it is hoped to raise the performance levels of the national team at international level as players will be used to facing a white ball.
It is expected that in the near future all domestic matches will conform with this standard. The Nigerian Cricket Federation has also advised that henceforth the National Club Championship will also be played with coloured clothing and a white ball.
