Netherlands claimed a narrow two-wicket win over Kenya via Duckworth-Lewis method in the first of the two One-Day Internationals in the ICC Intercontinental Cup 50-over League at the Sportpark Westvliet, Voorburg on Monday.
Kenya batted first and posted 208 for eight in 50 overs. Seren Waters (71: 100b, 3x4, 1x6) top-scored for Kenya. Duncan Allan (27), Tanmay Mishra (22), Irfan Karim (32) made other handy contributions.
For Netherlands, Mudassar Bukhari (2-35), Ahsan Malik (3-38), Pieter Seelaar (3-43) were the key wicket-takers.
Rain forced a reduction in the number of overs and Netherlands' target was reduced to 196 off 43 overs. Netherlands lost early wickets and slipped to 61 for four.
Netherlands skipper Peter Borren (40: 42b, 1x4, 1x6) then revived the chase with good support from Tim Gruijters (32), Michael Swart (30). In the end Mudassar Bukhari (37 not out: 29b, 3x4, 2x6) held the nerves to lead Netherlands home in the 42nd over.
Netherlands finally ended at 198 for eight in its 42 overs.
For Kenya, Lameck Onyango (3-30) and Lucas Oluoch (3-41) were the key wicket-takers.
