The Alpha Cricket Academy (ACA) will join three teams from Zimbabwe in an Under-15 tournament held at Bindura Country Club from Monday December 19 to Friday December 23.
Ishmael Mbatata, a former pupil of Churchill High school in Zimbabwe, will coach the visiting Zambian team.
Mbatata, also a product of Mashonaland Central and Zimbabwe Cricket's scholarship programme, is in charge of one of Zambia's leading Academy set-ups.
The local sides all come from the Mashonaland Eagles catchment area: Bald Eagle (Mabvuku and Chitungwiza), Golden Eagle (Bindura and Shamva) and Harp Eagle (High Glen)
Zimbabwean cricket are implementing an increasing number of junior events in order to boost the pool of players available at both franchise and international level.
Franchise development officer in charge of Mashonaland Central, Francis Rashikayi said: "Bindura has a strong cricket community and playing there helps in decentralising cricket from Harare. It already has a strong cricket culture and hopefully hosting this tournament is the beginning of greater things to come for the area."
