Segou Cricket League holds school cricket competition

Segou Cricket League held its school cricket competition in the month of June with Bandiougou Bouré School Complex being declared the winners. Four teams from different schools in Segou, including the Bandiougou Bouré School Complex, Pere Bouvier Sports Centre and the Abbé David Traoré School Complex competed in the 2009 Segou Schools Cricket Competition.
After initial group matches, the final was played between Bandiougou Bouré School Complex and Pere Bouvier Sports Centre at the Catholic Mission's Sports Field on Sunday, 14 June 2009.
The day began with a brief delay caused by rain followed by a short exhibition match by two local girls' cricket teams.
Pere Bouvier Sports Centre team batted first and made 51-4 in its 12-over innings. Bandiougou Bouré team, after some early losses, cruised home to victory by six wickets, scoring 56-4.
Segou Cricket League and all participating players and officials were applauded for their efforts and for their evident enthusiasm and love for the sport. Participating players will also be looking forward to be part of future Segovian teams at the Malian National Cricket Championship, the next edition of which will be held during 16-20 July 2009 in Segou.
