All-round performance powers Canada to victory
An all-round performance by Canada helped it recover from its comprehensive ICC Intercontinental Cup defeat by thrashing Kenya by nine wickets in the first ODI at King City. Rizwan Cheema produced an unbeaten 76 with the bat while Khurram Chohan picked up four wickets with the ball to score a 1-0 lead in the three ODI series.

Batting first, Kenya was dismissed for 113 in 33.1 overs with skipper Maurice Ouma top-scoring with his unbeaten 43. Player of the Match in the ICC Intercontinental Cup game, Steve Tikolo, was dismissed without scoring a run. Chohan was deemed the best bowler for his figures of 4-26, earning him the Man of the Match Award.

Canada's Rizwan Cheema quickly got into action making his half century off just 24 balls and ended the innings unbeaten on 76 from 38 balls with a strike rate of exactly 200. He was well supported by Abdool Samad (30) as the side cruised to victory in less than 17 overs.
