A fine bowling performance by Kenyan bowlers Siddhant Taneja and Vinit Shikotra helped the home side claim the Pepsi ICC U17 All Africa Tournament Championships by defeating Namibia by 63 runs at Nairobi Gymkhana Club on Sunday.
Taneja picked up 3-17 and Shikotra 3-16 as Namibia stumbled to 88 all out in 32.4 overs. The duo was ably supported by Raj Saval who finished with figures of 2-27. Gert Petrus Lotter top scored for Namibia once again with a fluent 22 in 36 balls.
Earlier, batting first, Kenya scored 151 in 47.3 overs with top contributions coming from Irfan Karim (27), Emmanuel Bundi (26) and Raj Shikotra (26). Henry Owen Bosman was the pick of the bowlers for Namibia with 3-20 including the prize wickets of Bundi and Karim.
With this win, Kenya finishes as the top U17 team in the Africa region, remaining unbeaten in the tournament. Namibia finishes second with a loss in two games, while Ghana is placed third losing both its matches.
